How Beavers Help Our Environment

Emily Fairfax, Assistant Professor, Environmental Science, California State University at Channel Islands

Emily’s research focuses on the ecohydrology of riparian areas, particularly those that have been impacted by beaver damming. Beavers build dams, dig channels, and change small streams into broad wetland areas. This keeps plants green and lush, even during periods of drought and wildfires.
